Event cancellation (Posted Aug 17th 2011)

The organising team regret to announce the cancellation of the 2011 Yorkshire Revival Rally.
We were disappointed with the level of entries but were confident that by the closing date we would have achieved enough to justify running the event and keeping it entertaining for both the crews and marshals.
However, yesterday afternoon we were informed that, due to an administrative error by the Forestry Commission, we would be unable to run the four tests in Bishop Wood.
We have therefore reluctantly elected to cancel the event at this time rather than run one that was below the high standard that we had set ourselves.
We would like to acknowledge the help and support we have received throughout the planning of the event from the MSA, RLO’s & landowners.
The good news is that we now have time to speak to the owners of Bishop Wood and already have a route ready for 2012 and look forward to seeing faces old and new next year.

Entries are now open (Posted Jul 11th 2011)

Regulations for the Yorkshire Revival are now online. We encourage you to enter the event online by going to the 'Entry' page. Payment can be made by Bank Transfer (BACS) or Cheque, or you can download the Regulations and Entry Form and enter by post. We look forward to your entry. If you do not wish to compete this year but know someone who does, then kindly point them in the direction of the website.

Yorkshire Revival Update (Posted Jun 29th 2011)

Regulations for the Yorkshire Revival will be on the website in the next two weeks.
Don't forget we have changed the date this year, moving two weeks earlier to the Bank Holiday weekend.  Although we have reduced some non-competitive mileage, the reputation the event has gained for being an "endurance" event, in the true sense of the word, has not changed.
But road rallying is changing and we think the 2011 Yorkshire Revival reflects that, there will be a mix of styles to keep you busy and entertained.
The Day Leg will be improved from last year with new Tests, at five venues, including a forest complex which we believe has not been used for rallying since the 50's.  These will be a mixture of tarmac and gravel surfaces.
After a meal halt, the Night Leg will start earlier than before and the first half will be regularities (a tripmeter would be advisable).  Following the petrol halt, back to some old fashioned minute sections.  Navigation instructions will be easier than last year, we want you to go the right way, and to make you think a bit!  They will consist of the usual methods, map references, tulips, spot heights etc.
Choose from the Day Leg, just the Tests, finishing with the evening meal and awards.  Or the Night Leg, starting in the early evening and running through to an early breakfast.  Or, for the full experience, compete on the Yorkshire Revival in its entirety.
This year the event starts at the De Lacy Clubhouse in Brotherton, with the evening meal again at Askham Bryan College.
The event will be a round of the NESCRO Summer Challenge and the ANWCC Historic Championship.
Putting on an event of this type is a tremendous undertaking and we would like to thank our sponsors, advertisers and partners for their support and to the many marshals from Ilkley and District Motor Club and many other clubs without whose voluntary assistance the event could not take place.

Yorkshire Revival Rally 2011 (Posted Jan 21st 2011)

Ilkley and District Motor Club announce the Yorkshire Revival Rally for 2011. In the four years it has run, the Yorkshire Revival Rally has gained a reputation for being an 'endurance' event, in the true sense of the word. 2011 will be no different.
We have listened to your comments so the navigation will be easier than 2010 and we are moving the timing so that you (and the marshals) can get to bed earlier - but there will be no reduction in competitive mileage.
We have also changed the date in 2011 to the 27th/28th August, this will enable you all to have a day off afterwards, to recover.
We received good and enthusiastic feedback after last year's event so the formula will remain the same, but we will be looking for new locations and challenging roads. It will again be based to the West of York.
On the day leg, we expect to have the best test locations from last year, along with some new and interesting venues, and a compact and entertaining route. Untimed and simple.
The night leg will take in different areas and will still test the navigator as well as the driving skills in the right-hand seat.
In the Yorkshire Rally's heyday of the 1960s, it was the first ever round of the "Motoring News" Championship. We cannot offer that championship these days, but we will still be a round of the NESCRO Summer Challenge, the HRCR Tartan Championship and the ANWCC Historic Championship.
Although we aim the event at historic cars, there will be classes for more modern vehicles.
The event will start at lunchtime on Saturday with a full afternoon of tests, followed by a break, with an evening meal and then the night leg; A navigational rally around some more of the best lanes of Yorkshire, finishing with an early breakfast.
There will also be a Clubmans status event which just takes in the Day Leg and finishes at the evening meal halt with the awards presentation.
Keep an eye on this website, we will keep posting information about the event over the next few months and the regulations and entry form will be downloadable from there in June. You will also be able to enter online. We hope to keep the entry fee as close to last year's as possible.
If you need a printed set of the regulations, register your interest here or send an email to yrr@ilkleymotorclub.org.uk and we will send you a printed copy when they are available.

Results announced (Posted September 12th 2010)

Now posted on the Results page are the final results for yesterday’s Yorkshire Revival Clubman event as well as the final results for the yesterday’s & last night’s Yorkshire Revival National B event.
The organisers would like to thank everybody who contributed. It is traditional to thank the marshals and, on this occasion, that is more justified than usual.
It did turn out to be test of endurance with 10 of the 27 National B entries not finishing.
Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, a number of controls were unmanned and we hope that this did not affect your enjoyment of the event.
We would appreciate your feedback, either on the form which was with your rally information (and a copy is here) or by email. I think that in the light of forthcoming proposals, it would be useful to see how we can tailor any future event to the needs of competitors.
Finally, congratulations to James TYSON / Neil HARRISON, winners of the National B and John RUDDOCK/Sarah RUDDOCK, winners of the Clubmans.

And thanks to all competitors for making our efforts worthwhile.

David Taylor

Finals now available (Posted September 8th 2010)

The finals have been sent out to all our competitors in the format they selected, whether it be by post or email. However, should you not want to wait, they are also available online. Just go to the 'Entry' page and you will also find a site map and an entry list. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact one of the team. Remember, you can never have too many marshals, so if you can't compete, or are only doing the day event, please contact Karen and offer your services on 07802 833404 or send an email to yrrmarshals@ilkleymotorclub.org.uk.

Event on schedule (Posted August 15th 2010)

The entries are rolling in and preparations are well on target for this years event. You can help yourself prepare by downloading an extract of last year’s Night Leg route instructions, which are available HERE, or on the 'Entry' page. If you have any questions, send us an email.

Entries are now OPEN! (Posted July 17th 2010)

The Regulations are now out for the 2010 Yorkshire Revival Rally. As last year, there are two events, a Clubmans daytime tests only event & a National B full day & night event. Aimed mainly at historic cars in order to capture the spirit of the original event run during the 1950’s and 1960’s, but we are catering for ‘moderns’ as well. We have held the entry fees at last year’s level, £90 for the Clubmans and £110 for the National B event provided entries are received by us no later than 11th August. The entry fee includes an evening meal on Saturday and breakfast for the National B crews on Sunday morning. We have also taken note of comments from last year, the rough stuff has gone!
Putting on an event of this type is a tremendous undertaking and we would like to thank our sponsors, advertisers and partners for their support and to the many marshals without whose voluntary assistance the event could not take place.

Download the Regulations from HERE or email entries yrrentries@ilkleymotorclub.org.uk and we will post you a copy.

We look forward to receiving your entry.

Latest News (Posted Jun 9th 2010)

Clerk of the Course, David Taylor reports "I am pleased with the way things are going, the event is taking shape. We are delighted to be basing the event at Askham Bryan College on the outskirts of York, again. We all thought it was an excellent venue, and other events seem to be taking a lead from that. The College authorities are extremely helpful & supportive and we hope to have some students from their Motorsport Engineering course out on the event. Apart from a new test at that venue, we also have new areas for more of the Day Leg Tests and we are avoiding any rough ones, we do take notice! The Night Leg route is entirely different to 2009, a new challenge on classic old roads.”

We are on course to go live with Regulations and On-line entries early in July. If you want to receive the Regulations and an Entry Form by email, click here to register your interest.

2010 is the centenary year for Ilkley and District Motor Club, come and join the celebrations.

More 2010 Event Details (Posted Feb 17th 2010)

Plans are progressing well for the 2010 event, we have recruited a strengthened team, aiming to build on the successful 2009 event. We are looking at a number of test venues to use during the day including several new to the event. The route for the night leg is ‘on the map’.

As last year there will be two events, the Day Leg Tests which can be entered without a Competition Licence and the combined Day & Night Legs, this will be National B status.

The Day Leg will have an untimed roadbook. Navigation for the Night Leg, around more of the best lanes of Yorkshire, will be straightforward and Novice navigators should have no problems finding their way.
There will be classes for both Modern and Historic cars.

2010 is the centenary year for Ilkley and District Motor Club and, with the great feedback from last year's event, we are expecting a high turn out of entries. If you want to add your name to the list of people who have registered an interest please click here to join our mailing list.

We expect the Regulations and the event on-line entry system to go live in July.
If you have any photos of your car on last years event or any archive information or photos of the original event circa 1950’s/1960’s please email them to us and we will upload them onto the event website

Yorkshire Revival Rally 2010 (Posted Dec 16th 2009)

Ilkley and District Motor Club are happy to announce the Yorkshire Revival Rally for 2010. It will run over the weekend of the 11th/12th September and will be based to the West of York.

As before, we are aiming the event at Historic Cars, although there will be a class for Moderns.

With a similar format to the 2009 event, it will start at around lunchtime on the 11th, with tests on private land on the Saturday afternoon, followed by a full night Navigational Rally, using classic Yorkshire lanes and finishing with breakfast on Sunday morning.

The event will have a National B status but there will also be a Clubmans event of just the tests, which will finish on Saturday evening.

We hope that entry fees will be similar to the 2009 event.
