President’s Paragraphs

First item this month is a plea on behalf of our event secretaries. Please make sure you complete all items on entry forms. Due to the popularity of our clubnight events our volunteer secretaries are being kept very busy on the night (with late entries and other things) so please do not make life any more difficult by requiring them to chase you.  Furthermore, as ever, the onus in on competitors to provide the correct information; so if you forgot to claim that you are Over 45 or Under 23 you will not be flagged as such in the results (we do not keep record of peoples ages).

The second item is from scrutineers on clubnight Car Trials (currently running at over 30 entries and going up!) - The regulations state that the minimum tyre pressure on the driven wheels is 25psi.  Due to the number of competitors scrutineers will confine themselves to checking this only and cannot (much as they like to be helpful) spare the time to let air out on your behalf.  You have been warned - if your tyres are at 40psi they will be passed and you will be left to compete on balloons! Also for those of you with any form of traction control device (including LSD’s), you are requested to come clean and take the extra 5psi penalty to help move things along so we don't have to spend time testing for such things.

Thirdly there has been some confusion recently over the age limits for clubnights - for clarification this is 14 for Car Trials and 16 for Autotests.  There are also limitations as to the types of vehicle that can be used by competitors who do not hold a full RTA Licence (regardless of age) - if in doubt please ask beforehand - the Car Comps Secretary will be happy to help or look on the MSA website.

On a cheerier note, things seem to going well; as mentioned Car Trial entries are above 30 and appear to be going up, Autotests entries are around the 20 mark but we have Norman’s ‘do’ coming up so this may change!  There was also a good turn out for the Treasure Hunt (17 cars, 46 bodies + Polly, Ed) and the Bradford Classic.  Many thanks to David and Dave for the work put in to the Treasure Hunt and Les and Geoff for the Bradford Classic and all the people who helped arrange for a great display of vehicles (one for each decade since IDMC was founded). The older bikes and the Willys Jeep certainly attracted much interest.  We also managed a little jaunt up to Odsal Stadium to advertise the club during the pre-match parade. Thanks to the Classic promoters for co-operating on this and the police for providing an escort to keep us all together.

Lots of things coming up - not enough room to plug here - so please read future events for details.
